SS1000 — Student and Career Success
Welcome
SS1000 Student and Career Success introduces you to the resources, strategies, and professional skills you need to succeed as a student at University of Massachusetts. It is designed for students entering a healthcare career program who want to build strong academic habits from the very first week.
This course will help you understand how you learn, develop professional behaviors, and connect your academic work to your future career. You will leave with a clearer sense of who you are as a learner and what you need to do to succeed.
Fully online. All learning materials, videos, and graded activities are accessed through D2L Brightspace.
Each week follows the same pattern: Learn, Practice, and then Complete graded activities. Everything you need is on one page.
Contact your instructor through D2L messaging or reach the Student Success Center for academic support at any time.
Navigation
Every week in this course uses the same three-step structure. You will find all of that week’s learning content on a single Learning Materials page. You do not need to navigate a complex folder structure — everything is in one place.
Work through each module’s videos, readings, and interactive activities. These are your study resources — none of them are graded.
Complete the Self Check at the end of each module. These are ungraded knowledge checks that help you confirm your understanding before the graded activities.
Submit your graded Discussion, Assignment, and Test through D2L’s native tools. All graded activities for a week are due Sunday at 11:59 PM EST.
Structure
Each week contains one or more modules. Every module follows the same format, so you always know what to expect.
